  • Flight operations Officer License or Airline Transport pilot license.
  • At least 4 years of experience in a busy commercial airline within Dispatch.
  • Frozen ATPL.
  • Adequate knowledge of Uganda Civil Aviation Regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Through knowledge and understanding of flight scheduling and fleet operations.
  • Computer literate.
  • High level of proficiency in English.

  • Through knowledge and understanding of flight scheduling and fleet operations.

  • Safely and efficiently scheduling aircraft and crew in coordination with the Head of Flight Operations, Head Maintenance and Engineering, Cabin Services Manager, and Roster Clerks to meet aircraft utilization, punctuality, and maintenance requirements.
  • Providing administrative, functional, and technical guidance to the flight Dispatch and Load Planning teams on behalf of the Head of Flight Operations.
  • Collaborating with the Operations Coordination Department to align Operational Control with operational coordination activities and needs.
  • Developing, implementing, and enforcing operational control standards, policies, and procedures for the Flight Dispatch function in accordance with safety, UCAA, corporate, and operational coordination requirements.
  • Offering flight operational support through Dispatch services, including Flight Planning, Flight Watch, Weather Briefing, and communications as per UCARs and Operations Manual.
  • Ensuring Operations control personnel receive appropriate training, checking, and route familiarization.
  • Safely and efficiently planning, clearing, and monitoring Company flights according to established standards and regulations.
  • Initiating, maintaining, and updating the Flight Dispatch Procedures Manual (FDPM) and other relevant documents.
  • Developing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Dispatch to ensure safe operations and UCARs compliance.
  • Monitoring Flight Dispatcher (FOO) performance and maintaining accurate records of evaluations and training.
  • Providing efficient work schedules for Flight Dispatchers.
  • Identifying Flight Dispatcher training requirements and developing/delivering training courses and criteria.
  • Managing and maintaining the operational capacity of all flight Dispatch technical support systems.
  • Preparing operating and capital expenditure budgets related to Flight Dispatch.
  • Ensuring all operations staff are well-versed in the operations manual and Emergency Procedures.
  • Coordinating with other departments to achieve Uganda Airlines' punctuality and regularity targets while considering operational maintenance and security requirements.
  • Obtaining necessary diplomatic and overflight clearances for the Commercial program.
  • Reviewing journey logs for OCC operations and rectifying discrepancies.
  • Managing disruptions to the flying program with a focus on passenger welfare and cost-effective solutions.
  • Addressing air traffic routing problems, delay analysis, and responses to crew.
  • Liaising with the maintenance department to ensure schedules are met and managing unplanned maintenance events efficiently.
  • Handling recruitment, training, rostering, and discipline of OCC staff as the Department Head.
