The Medical Officer’s primary duty is to safeguard the well-being and safety of all employees through the provision of thorough medical treatment and emergency response assistance at the Kiira Vehicle Plant Infirmary, with the aim of upholding a robust workforce and fostering a secure work environment.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Paramedic  Sciences or equivalent from a Recognized Institution.
  • Must be registered and licensed with Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
  • Minimum Experience: The applicant should have General Working Experience of at least Two (2) years. The applicant should have clinical experience, preferably in occupational health, emergency medicine, or general practice in a reputable medical facility for at least One (1) year.

  • Provision of Primary and Emergency Medical Care: Provide medical care to employees, including diagnosis, treatment, triage, wound care, minor procedures, medication administration and monitoring of vital signs and follow-up.
  • Patient Examinations: Assist with patient examinations, take medical histories, measure vital signs, and prepare patients for procedures.
  • Provision of First Aid: Provide first aid and emergency care in case of workplace accidents or medical emergencies and coordinate with external emergency services.
  • Preventive Care Programs: Conduct regular health screenings and preventive care programs for employees and educate them on health maintenance and disease prevention to promote a safe workplace environment.
  • Referrals: Refer patients to specialists or external healthcare providers when necessary.
  • Medical Records: Maintain accurate and confidential medical records for all patients.
  • Health and Wellness Programs: Support health and wellness programs within the Corporation.
  • Manage Medical Supplies and Equipment: Manage medical supplies and equipment, ensuring they are stocked and properly maintained.
  • Any other duties relevant to the needs of the Corporation and as assigned.
