As Financial Planning and Controls Officer at Jibu, you will play a key role in financial planning and controls for your
specific operating company (Jibu Uganda) within the Jibu network. You will work closely with the Group FinancialPlanning & Analysis (FP&A) Head and the Group Financial Control team to ensure accurate and strategic financialplanning while maintaining a strong financial control environment.
Requirements
● 4+ years of experience in the Finance department in a similar role in Uganda with a for-profit business that
operates in multiple locations and in several currencies.
● Degree in Accounting or Finance
● Required professional qualification CPA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
● Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures including IFRS and IASs.
● Demonstrable experience with preparing financial statements, management accounting (costing, unit
economics) - Critical.
● Demonstrated experience with budgets and forecasts prepared in Excel and daily and monthly monitoring of
actual vs. budget.
● High levels of proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
● Excellent accounting software experience. Netsuite experience is an added advantage
● Strong focus on controls and processes and high attention to detail
● Strong communication skills for engaging with business partners and ensuring processes are being followed
● Confidence to challenge senior opinions and maintain positive working relationships
Financial Planning: Collaborate with the Group FP&A Head to develop and
manage forward-looking financial planning processes at the OPCO level.
Assist in the creation of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial models.
Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial plans and forecasts for your
OPCO.
Financial Control Environment: Work closely with the Group Financial
Controller to establish and maintain a robust financial control environment
at the OPCO level. Monitor financial controls to minimize risk and maintain
compliance with company policies and regulations.
Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and
opportunities specific to your OPCO. Provide insights and recommendations
to the local management team and senior Group Executive management.Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation and review of local financial reports, including assisting Group Financial
Control to collate management accounts. Collaborate with stakeholders, including donors if applicable, to provide
accurate financial reports for your OPCO.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with local taxation and regulatory requirements in your OPCO. Stay current with
changes in local tax laws and regulations.
Financial Controls: Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of financial controls and procedures
specific to your OPCO. Identify areas where controls can be strengthened or improved.
Stakeholder Management: Be the primary Finance contact person for OpCo Staff, zees, banks, suppliers, regulatory
authorities etc.
