For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

  1. At least four (4) years relevant work experience;
  2. Bachelors Degree in Architecture or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  3. Graduate member of the Architectural Association of Kenya (A.A.K) or any other recognized professional body in good standing;
  4. Registered as a Graduate Architect by the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors (BORAQS);
  5. Supervisory course lasting not less than two (2) weeks from a recognized institution;
  6. Proficiency in computer applications; and
  7. Fulfills the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution.

  1. Initiating formulation, implementation, monitoring and review of procedures and standards for undertaking architectural designs and construction work;
  2. Providing information for feasibility study and planning for housing projects;
  3. Preparing architectural designs, specifications and drawings;
  4. Obtaining County and statutory approvals for architectural designs and drawings;
  5. Reviewing tender and contract documentation for architectural and building aspects;
  6. Participation in evaluation of contractual claims;
  7. Participating in procurement processes for housing projects;
  8. Undertaking monitoring and evaluation of housing projects;
  9. Supervision of construction of housing projects to ensure quality and adherence to specifications;
  10. Preparation of requisite documents for obtaining certificate of occupation;
  11. Participation in research on housing and architectural designs, technology and materials;
  12. Training of students and guiding interns attached to Architectural Department;
