The water, biodiversity &
climate portfolio in GIZ Tanzania has seen a significant growth in the last
years. The number of projects has increased significantly, from 2 in 2021 to 8
in 2024. Not only the number of projects but also the number of clients and
donors has increased. In addition to the Federal Ministry for Economic
Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Federal Ministry for the Environment,
Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV), the
European Union is also one of our most important clients. Due to this complex
and rapidly growing mandate landscape, our employees have to cope with a
demanding operational business. A further increase in funds and the complexity
of the portfolio can be expected in the future. At the same time, the demands
on GIZ in terms of communication and visibility are increasing. The current
situation requires efficient communication that is targeted and effective. GIZ
Tanzania's water, biodiversity & climate portfolio therefore needs a strategic
approach to its communication work. GIZ Tanzania's portfolio aims to develop a
strategic approach to communication work that addresses individual thematic
areas such as climate resilience, water security and stewardship, industrial ecological footprints, marine
and forest conservation, human-wildlife conflict and the blue economy, but also
highlights the interfaces and overlaps.
