The Retail Sales Manager will be based in Mombasa and primarily responsible for enhancing sales performance across all company's petrol stations (70% of the role) and overseeing the efficient management of station operations (30% of the role). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sales, retail management, and operations within the petroleum industry, with a specific focus on the Kenyan market.
Sales Management (70%):
- Develop and implement effective sales strategies to increase fuel and non-fuel sales across all gas stations in Kenya.
- Analyze sales data and market trends to identify opportunities for growth.
- Conduct market research to understand customer needs and preferences specific to the Kenyan market.
- Develop and execute targeted marketing campaigns to attract and retain customers.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key customers and corporate clients.
- Monitor competitor activities and adjust strategies to maintain a competitive edge.
- Train and mentor station managers and sales staff to achieve sales targets.
Operations Management (30%):
- Oversee day-to-day operations of all gas stations, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning.
- Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and quality of service.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with company policies and Kenyan industry regulations.
- Manage inventory levels and coordinate with suppliers to ensure adequate stock of petroleum products and retail items.
- Handle customer complaints and resolve issues promptly to maintain high customer satisfaction.
- Ensure safety and security protocols are followed at all stations.
- Develop and manage budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations and maximizing profitability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
- Proven experience (10+ years) in sales and retail management, preferably in the petroleum industry.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze data and market trends to make informed decisions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle customer complaints effectively.
- Knowledge of safety and compliance regulations in the Kenyan petroleum industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and sales management software.
- Proficiency in English and Swahili is preferred.
